Taking some me time

 photo SAM_0430_zps299c0b3a.jpg
The year is well and truly in full swing, I am three weeks back into work and am feeling a little overwhelmed! I am teaching Business Studies for the first time and although I am enjoying it, it is taking me a while to get my head around it and feel confident.
One of my New Years Resolutions was to work on my work/life balance and I don't think I've done this very well the last few weeks so it is time to prioritise! I have been thinking about the things I haven't been doing and am making sure I allocate some "Zoe" time,
I had a bath and an early night last night and feel better already. I also realised I haven't been reading as much as I usually do. I have four books on the go at the moment but haven't finished one since my holiday in January... My plan for the week is to try and take some time out without thinking about work or other jobs to do and finish some of the books I'm reading, I think The Happiest Refugee will be first on my list, I'm really enjoying it. I'm also going to try to get to bed a little earlier which always helps me feel more on top of things.
How is your work/life balance going? I would love to hear some things that you do to take time out and look after yourself, I think it's so important but so easy to forget as well.
Zoe xx
P.S. My brother-in-law Glen told me that he read my blog and liked it, except that he felt it was lacking a mention about how great he is. So I just wanted to tell Glen that I think he's the best brother-in-law ever.

  1. Great post! I'm trying to read more - I set myself a goal of four books a month but I'm only managing around about three. Haha about your brother-in-law! Really like your blog x

  2. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on The Happiest Refugee. It's on my list too!
I find that every time I'm at home and allocate time for reading I tend to get distracted, mainly from technology (internet, tv etc). But this week I went to the park and read for three solid hours, I don't think I'd ever be able to do that at home. Try that for extended "Zoe time"! :)

  3. Haha go Glen! I really hope you get some me time this week, just reading and zoning out sounds wonderful!
I am feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment too. I am really enjoying bootcamp but three nights a week means I have no time at home during the week and then we are away every weekend for a month!Oh well it will all die down and I will be bored :P

  4. The Happiest refugee is on my list too.... Just need to find the time!!!!

    New follower :) xx

  5. I have barely read in the past few years, with my excuse being that I was studying and that if I have time to read I should be reading a textbook. But now that's over I'm still looking for my reading mojo! I have several half-read books that obviously just haven't grabbed me. I want to make the effort though and will be starting with switching the telly off for half hour, jumping in the hammock and getting my read on.

PS. I am a total convert to coconut oil - I've even been caught eating it out of the jar!

    PPS. Hi Glen!

  6. I haven't read any of those books. So far this year I've only read 5 books, which is awful. But I've been setting aside more time to read - this is aside from everything I have to read for the thesis. I spent most of today with my head buried in a book and it was great! I hope you'll do book reviews on here too :)
